The Lady Pamela II headed out today on a six hour charter and sailed right into a bunch of king mackerel. These fish were biting on the troll, attacking seawitch feathers run behind planers in 60 feet of water. There were a few blackfin tuna and bonitos also mixed in with the kings. After three hours of trolling our anglers were ready for something different so we put the big baits out in 350 feet of water. These baits were spooled out both at the surface and on the bottom, hoping to catch a monster shark. It took all of 45 minutes to get the big bite down deep and we kicked the boat in gear to set the hook. It was a tough 30 minute battle, but it was all worth it for our anglers when about a 9 foot tiger shark finally popped up in the prop wash behind the boat. It was a bruiser!
On Saturday the 19th we went offshore on an all day trolling trip. We caught 8 mahi-mahi and a 30lb wahoo, then moved closer to shore for some deep drops. Baits dropped on one of our go-to shipwrecks produced a snowy grouper, some yelloweye snappers and two nice amberjacks. To top it all off we hooked up a sailfish while slow trolling live baits back to shore!
