Mark, a friend of mine, and two of his family members from MN headed out around 1:00 p.m. aboard the Lady Pamela II for one hell of an afternoon of fishing. We trolled for a couple of hours catching ten bonitos and two nice sashimi-size blackfin tunas. With all these bonitos on the boat we headed out to shark land. We put out 3 fresh bonitos; one on the bottom, one in the middle and one on top. In no time at all we had a monster bite on the bottom bait. This was a big fish that hit the bait so hard I thought it was going to break the rod. The heavy tackle held up though, and twenty minutes later a big tiger shark swam right to the boat! This was a big deal for me as I have never caught a tiger shark out here. A few of our other boats and captains have caught these fearsome fish, but not many. What a cool shark this was! As these fish are now a protected species, we tagged it, photographed it, and let it swim away.
