Fishing Report
The hot Summer bite continues to explode in time for Independence Day! The Lady Pamela Sportfishing Fleet continues to declare its independence from the oppression of slow fishing with big catches of the following species: Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Kingfish, Tunas, Amberjacks, Barrcuda, Sharks and a battalion horde of Snapper and Grouper species!
NOW is the time to book your July and August saltwater fishing adventure while we still have a few open slots!
Mahi Mahi Touring the Area
Mahi Mahi are still showing up in good numbers from 200 feet of water all the way out to 2,000 feet of water and beyond. Our clients continue to catch Mahi Mahi from 10 to 25 pounds on both live bait in close and trolling bonito strips and rigged ballyhoo out beyond the reef. The more smaller “schoolies” are still around but they are giving way to the mid-summer trend of larger Mahi Mahi patrolling the deeper water in pairs.
Wahoos on the Moon!
On the full moon, we’re in the middle of a firecracker of a Wahoo bite! We’ve been catching huge Wahoo like the one below in 150 to 500 feet of water fishing a mix if live baits and trolled mullet strips or bonito strips either on a downrigger or planer to get the baits down in the water column.
Kingfish and Barracuda are the toothy critters that are hanging around in the same neighborhood: 75 to 200 feet of water and are pouncing on our live baits up on the kite or even trolled Wahoo baits.
Blackfins & Bonitos
Blackfin Tunas and Bonitos are still in abundance and are feasting on our goggle-eye kite baits and slow-trolled pilchards! They are also responding well to trolled bonito strips. The Blackfins are still large, in the 15-25 pound range and the Bonitos are nearly as large. As you can see below, there are still some awesome Sailfish catches when we’re targeting Blackfin Tunas.
The Sharks are Ready for the Holiday Too
We are still ending our trips by targeting big sharks such as Hammerheads, Blacktips and Silky Sharks. The action has been stready and strong!
The best shark baits continue to be either a live Bonito or dead Bonito or Kingfish dropped down in 300 feet of water.
