On Valentine’s Day today we took out Mr. Dunn, who fishes with us multiple times a year. We were set up for an eight hour fishing trip but Mr. Dunn couldn’t make it to the boat until11:30 am so we left the dock quite late. Luckily we had a 3 knot north current so we rolled up to the north offshore of Pompano pretty quick. We trolled around and caught a few bonitos, a kingfish and a couple of blackfin tunas. We had live baits on board so we moved out to a wreck in deeper water looking to catch a couple of big amberjacks. While we were reeling in one of the big AJs an even bigger fish grabbed it and the fight was on, and with only a monofilament leader!. It was an hour and a half battle before we caught sight of the 400 lb bull shark that had consumed the 30 lb AJ. This was a massive fish and a catch that made for one killer of a day on the water.
