This afternoon the Lady Pamela III had a nighttime tarpon fishing trip scheduled, but before it got dark the crew wanted to try some sharkfishing. A quick run straight offshore put the boat in 350 feet of water, and in 20 minutes they had hooked up a 5 foot sandbar shark. This sure wet our anglers’ appetite and they wanted to try to catch another shark, so mates Joe and Dom put big baits right back out. In less than 5 minutes they got a bite from a huge Mako shark. This monster started jumping all over the ocean, with the boat chasing the fish out to 800 feet of water. This was a huge catch; one of the biggest Makos that I have seen caught off Ft. Lauderdale.
