The Lady Pamela III had a driftfishing trip from 8 am to 12 noon catching a nice mix of both surface predators and bottomfish. Anglers fishing near the surface pulled in some blackfin tunas, a few nice kingfish, and a couple of mahi-mahi. The bottom was yielding lots of grunts and snappers. The driftfishing has been red-hot all week, just like the offshore fishing.
In the afternoon, I took a friend of mine in from New Jersey for some fishing aboard the Lady Pamela II. We headed out with a dozen live goggleyes and went kite fishing right out in front of Port Everglades in 110 feet of water. The baits weren’t out 10 minutes before a couple of mahi-mahi slammed into the spread. It was nonstop from there, and within 2 hours we had burned through all of our live baits. We did pretty well though, releasing one sailfish, and boating four nice gaffer mahi out of eight hookups.
