Jumping Sailfish, Deep Sea Fishing Charters in Fort Lauderdale, South Florida

This morning the Lady Pamela II set sail with a Joe and his daughter from Wisconsin and Scott and his friend from Ohio. As we headed out Port Everglades, Joe asked if we caught Marlin or Sailfish in Fort Lauderdale. I explained to him the seasonal fish, Sailfish bite in the winter time, usually. If you’re lucky, a summertime Sailfish will swim into your spread. Trolling gear went out as soon as we hit open water and the fish were right there waiting to eat. King Mackerel and Bonito were solid offshore. Everybody aboard was reeling one in after another and all of a sudden one rod bent over and we were hooked to something bigger than a Bonito. Right before Joe’s eyes, a Sailfish started jumping within feet of the transom. How ironic is what I was thinking! We fought the Sail to the boat and released it for the upcoming season.
