Donna, John, and Alex joined me for a four hour charter on the Lady Pamela II, here in Fort Lauderdale. We started the trip out by trolling on the reef and in the first hour only caught one kingfish. We stuck with it though, and 45 minutes later we caught a blackfin tuna. There was a northwest wind today and it was blowing 20 to 25 knots against a strong north current so the seas offshore were pretty rough. Regardless, there was a nice current edge outside so we decided to brave the seas and look for better action. Right off the bat we caught a nice 20 lb wahoo, then missed a sailfish bite. We kept trolling out and another saw sailfish tailing down sea. It took the bait two times but we couldn’t get a hookup. Finally, twenty minutes before reeling up the lines John hooked a nice sailfish right out in front of Fort Lauderdale. Not too bad considering the weather. We had three bites from sailfish and caught one, plus kingfish and blackfin tuna trolling off Fort Lauderdale.
