The last few weeks have been HOT and I mean upper 90 degrees. This means the fishing has been best on the morning and evening trips. With the recent full moon, wahoo have been our target and it has been really good. High speed trolling as well as early morning live baiting has been working best.
The fall is right around the corner and our repeat customers are already booking up September and October. The mullet run is a bait migration that comes right down our beach by the miillons and everything follows them including tarpon, snook, sharks and much more. The sailfish are also going to be coming into the area with the dropping temperatures.
As I write this, the local meteorologist are saying the Bahamas may get hit with a tropical storm this weekend. For us, this usually stirs up the fishing big time and sometimes starts the fall migration early. A mix up in weather kicks the fish to start moving, so i expect the first week of September to be the start of this whole phenomenon that happens in Fort Lauderdale. Stay tuned for our Mullet Run video coming out before, during and after. I’ll keep everyone posted as we are fishing it with customers just about everyday for monster tarpon.
