Today Joe and I had a great sportfishing charter with Juan and his family. We started the morning out with some trolling on the reef edge off Ft. Lauderdale, and the kingfish were snapping. We caught 7 kings and a bonito before Juan got tired of this action and declared that he was ready to go catch the big ones.
Joe rigged up some shark baits as I moved the Lady Pamela II out into 400 feet of water. We did not even get our last bait out before BOOM! the topwater bait got slammed. The fish was a monster 11 foot great hammerhead shark that hit the rod rigged with 80 lb test. This was a big fish on pretty light tackle, but after almost two hours, the battle was over and the awesome fish was behind the boat. This was a stunning catch that was photographed and released. Wow!
