This has been a crazy good week of fishing here in Fort Lauderdale. In the last 5 days we have caught some amazing sharks, including some big hammerheads and sandbar sharks. The big catch of the week though was a 12 foot tiger shark estimated at over 600 pounds. It has been Lady Pamela II’s own personal version of shark week! In addition to sharks we’ve been catching nice mahi-mahi averaging 12 – 15 lbs. Of course every trip we’re catching some combination of 6 or more kingfish, bonitos, or blackfin tunas from the reef edge.
The nighttime snapper trips on the reef are producing some yellowtail, mangrove and mutton snappers. If our anglers can keep the baits down long enough they have found a few black and red groupers mixed in.
We took a group of anglers out nighttime swordfishing one night last week Wednesday and caught one 125 pound broadbill and pulled off two other fish that were pretty nice.
